Free Workshop on Business Alliances for Local Living Economies

Judy Wicks owner of the White Dog Cafe in Philadelphia and co-founder of BALLE, and Michael Shuman, author of The Small Mart Revolution: How Local Businesses Are Beating the Global Competition will give a free workshop on BALLE (Business Alliance for Local Living Economies).

BALLE is an international alliance of 49 independently operated local business networks with more than 15,000 members dedicated to building Local Living Economies. An article on Judy Wicks’ story and BALLE can be found in Orion Magazine

The workshop is free but registration is required. It is part of the Pathways to a Sustainable World conference and is sponsored by the Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Rochester.

This conference will bring the greater Rochester community together to explore critical issues in creating a truly sustainable world. Communication and education are essential to understand the challenges we face to create the world we want. The conference will highlight inspiring talks by innovators proposing solutions across a wide range of areas, including education, ecology, economics, social policy, arts, and science. It specifically aims to support positive change at the local and regional level, strengthening community and encouraging local economies. It will be a forum for discussion and interaction in which we will share our knowledge and skills, and be inspired and motivated towards creating a genuinely sustainable world.
